Conveniently located in Brunswick Maine, our training facility is available to locals and dog owners throughout the Northeast. At the heart of our services is the 1600 square foot training room, featuring crates, wall mounted leashes, raised beds, soft rubber floors, and all the tools needed to give dogs and owners an exceptional training experience

The MDTC puppy training class is an engaging and educational experience designed to lay the foundation for a lifetime of positive behavior and companionship between puppies and their owners. Through a combination of hands-on demonstrations, socialization activities, and essential obedience exercises, this class provides a safe space for puppies to develop social skills, adapt to various environments, and gain confidence. By the end of the four weeks, your puppy will be on a path to becoming well-mannered and well-adjusted canine companions.
Of all the training you do with your dog, a puppy training class may be the most important. First, it works to establish clear communication and mutual understanding between a dog and its owner. Secondly, it begins to expose puppies to essential obedience commands and behaviors, ensuring a well-behaved and manageable pet as it matures. And third, early training promotes proper socialization, helping puppies develop confidence and friendly interactions with other dogs and people. The MDTC Puppy Class lays the foundation for a stress-free coexistence, making daily life with a well-trained puppy more fulfilling, and enhancing the bond between the dog and its owner.
This class is for owners looking to lay the foundation for a lifetime of positive behavior and companionship between puppies and their owners through educational experiences and playful interactions. All puppies must be 8-16 weeks old at the start of class.

Our 5-week Foundation Obedience class will cover skills such as impulse control, leash walking and foundation obedience skills (sit, down, place and engagement). The class meets once a week at our Brunswick training studio.
As a group class, dogs are trained with other dogs in the studio (classes are limited to no more than 4 dogs). But dogs do not typically interact directly.
Dogs who complete the class are welcome to join our Day School (reservation required) and the MDTC private Facebook page.
Having a dog with basic skills is not only satisfying as an owner, it allows you and your dog to be better citizens in your community.
With our Foundation Obedience course, we will teach you how to get and maintain good behavior from your dog.
This 5-week class is for dogs 4 months and older. An excellent option for new dog owners looking to give their new pups a solid framework before continuing on to more advanced training.

This fast-paced, 4-week class jumps into all of the skills of the Canine Good Citizen test and more. Dogs will train in close proximity to other dogs to work on the next level of obedience. In addition to training the dog, handlers will also be challenged in their engagement skills. A list of skills that we will work on for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test can be found here.
This class is for dogs 6 months or older. Dog/handler teams that want to participate must have EITHER:

This 4-week advanced class is aimed at owners wanting to prepare their dogs to take the Canine Good Citizen test and/or are looking for advanced training for their dog that already has strong training foundation.

If you are the competitive type, this class is for you! Each class we will cover a skill (engagement, heeling, fronts, finish, group, etc.).
You and your dog will learn what is needed to be a well-oiled machine in the competition ring. This class is not just training the dog, but also addresses the handler’s headspace and presentation in the ring.
If you already own a dog with advanced training skills, then you already know the benefits of a course like this. But Competitive Training offers more than just advanced training. While the dog certainly learns advanced skills, the course is especially effective at building the dog-handler team relationship.

Nose Work is an activity that allows your dog to use their natural desire to hunt. It harnesses a dogs unique ability to detect scent and determine the source. In training, dogs learn to find specific scented objects just about anywhere you can hide them.
Although there are challenges involved in scent work, such as learning to trust your dog and encouraging him to work independently, any dog can enjoy the sport. The class will cover the foundation needed to get a dog started.
There are many benefits of scent work for both the dog and handler. Often pet owners with timid dogs see large gains in confidence from participating, while also observing improvements in their behavior and attitude. And because dogs will generally participate one at a time, nose work is a good choice for reactive dogs who may be nervous in a class setting.
This detection–style sport is fun, burns mental calories, and can help create environmental hardiness. Young, old, handicapped, performance, reactive… doesn’t matter! Any dog can benefit with this ‘no obedience’ zone sport.
